Apple is about to adopt OLED screens on new products in the coming years. While the iPhone and Apple Watch have been taking advantage of it for many years, the apple firm has passed this technology on larger slabs than in 2024 with The iPad Pro M4 11 inches and 13 inches. As a bonus, MacBook should taste it in the coming years.

OLED in 2026 for MacBook Pro, but not before 2029 for MacBook Air

The Elec also returned to the subject in a blog post this Tuesday, February 11, 2025. The South Korean media shares as well as Samsung Display had started production of OLED screens samples for the MacBook Pro.

As suggested previous information leaksthe technology would not be planned for the M5 models expected for the end of the year, but rather for the next generation. Thus, the MacBook Pro of 2026, equipped with the M6/M6 PRO/M6 Max chips, would be the first to take advantage of it.

The OLED would then arrive on the MacBook Air, but not for several years. During the month of January 2025, The Elec explained that technology had been delayed on Apple ultra-portable. His arrival would have been shifted from 2027 to 2029. The company led by Tim Cook would still have some ideas in its bag to improve the display of these computers.

This Tuesday's blog post evokes the use of a better LCD screen in 2027 on MacBook Airand more precisely with oxide TFT technology. Compared to current panels, the latter would offer much better energy efficiency, and therefore an increase revised upwards, as well as better clarity and fluidity of the content displayed.

The Elec Explain in passing that the choice to go to this improved LCD screen was made at the sight of the mixed return of consumers to the iPad Pro M4 with OLED slab. Not having made it possible to boost sales of this range, Apple would have preferred to opt for less expensive technology before moving up a gear. It will also be an opportunity for the apple firm to feel the ground with the OLED on the MacBook Pro For a few years before embarking on the MacBook Air.
