Meta turns more than ever to AI and invests several billion dollars in this technology. According to sources close to the file on condition of anonymity, employees were notified of their dismissal by email, Monday, February 10, 2025.
They were offered compensation with sixteen weeks of salary and two additional weeks per year of seniority. Employees who deserved a bonus according to their assessment are still entitled to it. The staff thanked will still receive their META actions provided for this month.
Meta leader, Mark Zuckerberg, had already announced to employees that the workforce would be reduced to 5 %, or about 3,600 people. The company justifies these dismissals by the staff “Not meeting expectations”as Bloomberg had revealed it in January 2025.
In a message addressed only to managers, Mark Zuckerberg specifies that these layoffs release positions for the company to recruit from “Best talents”.
The layoffs are regular at Meta. The company had already removed thousands of jobs in 2022 And 2023 as part of an efficiency policy. The new wave of references ended in February 2025, at the end of the evaluation cycle.
At the end of January 2025, Mark Zuckerberg told investors that Meta will invest billions of dollars in IA infrastructure. Technology is invited in its applications like Instagram and Facebook but also in its virtual reality glasses.
