iPhone 16th: Apple draws its shocking weapon to shake up the smartphone market
Three years is the time that it took to wait to Discover the iPhone SE 4successor to theiPhone SE (2022)third generation therefore. But to renew it, Apple has chosen to assert it with a new name: the smartphone takes that of iPhone 16th, which underlines its kinship with the latest apple terminals. With its very contained price in the universe of the apple – from € 719 – and its attractive characteristics, the smartphone aims a target undoubtedly less demanding than that of the one of the iPhone 16but who intends to keep his smartphone for a long time. Suffice to say that there is no question of disappointing.
The end of very small screens
Necessarily different from 2nd and 3rd generation iPhonewho inherited the iPhone 6 housing at 8, Touch ID button included, the iPhone 16th presents a design inspired by that of iPhone 14, 15 and 16. Understand that the fingerprint reader has disappeared, and that it is replaced by facial recognition Face ID, hidden in a notch located at the top of its screen. But also that it includes the action button discovered on the iPhone 16.
And this screen, precisely, is one of the main news on the device. It is much larger, with its 6.1 inch diagonal; Suffice to say that the compactness of the iPhone SE (2022) is an ancient history, even if the newcomer is not a giant. This screen hides another novelty: exit the retina slab of the 2022 model. Behind this trade name was hidden an IPS LCD display, replaced in 2025 by an OLED slab. If it is not a question of high refresh rate (60 Hz, again and again), it is synonymous with bright rises, but also of infinite contrasts. This screen inherited from the most recent “standard” iPhone is also protected by CERAMIC SHIELD, more solid than the reinforced glass of SE 2022.
Under the hood, intelligence
The iPhone 16th case hides a novelty: the integration of the A18 chip which already equips the iPhone 16 and 16 pro, however in a slightly less efficient version, at least GPU level (four cores instead of five on the iPhone 16). This therefore means that the smartphone is not only compatible with iOS 18 (and even iOS 18.3already available), but above all that it is compatible with Apple Intelligence, the continuation of AI functions of the apple. This is therefore no longer the prerogative of the most expensive iPhone, since this is the most affordable model to have this option. This is enough to frustrate: the classic iPhone 15, for example, are not eligible for Apple Intelligence.
A simplified photo shutter
This is undoubtedly the main compromise to remember: the iPhone 16th can only afford as many photo modules as the most expensive iPhone (two 12 Mpx modules on iPhone 14 and 15, a 48 Mpx module and a 12 MP on the iPhone 16). But it is not satisfied with a single 12-megapixel sensor, accompanied by a large-angle optics (f/1.8), as was the case for SE 2022: the newcomer has a module Certainly unique, but of a definition of 48 megapixels. We can therefore hope for the possibility of capturing images of 12 or 24 MP, with a crop corresponding to an X2 zoom. If the images are up to those captured by an iPhone 16, the gain in quality promises to be important.

The iPhone 16th is available now from € 719 for 128 GB of internal space and € 849 for 256 GB and € 1099 for 512 GB;No version 64 GB is therefore offeredreassuring those who feared lacking storage.
