Byd: The forecasts for 2026 are excellent, the manufacturer is preparing to crush the competition
In a research note published yesterday, the team of analyst Nick Lai from JP Morgan provides 6.5 million electric vehicles by the world in 2026 against 6 million during the estimate of July 2024. The report Specifies that out of these 6.5 million, 1.5 million will be delivered outside China.
Excellent forecasts for Byd in 2026
JP Morgan also estimates that light vehicles, whose thermal models, will drop from 3 % of shares in 2023 to 7 % in 2026. Its share on the segment of new energies (NEV) will be maintained around 22 %.
The year 2026 will be strategically striking for Byd with the rise of four international production sites: Thailand, Indonesia, Brazil and Hungary.
Despite the increase in European customs tariffs, JP Morgan thinks that Byd will bet on technical sheets and features rather than prices for its world competitiveness.
Data compiled by Cnevpost Show that Byd sold 4.27 million NEV in 2024, or 41 % growth compared to 3.02 million 2023. Sales are made up of 4.25 million private vehicles and 21,775 commercial vehicles. Internationally, sales reached 417,204 units in 2024, an increase of 71.86 % compared to the 242,765 units of 2023.
Nick Lai anticipates sales growth of around 30 % in 2025 to 5.5 million units. Increased volumes will reduce unit costs and improve margins.
While in previous years, the manufacturers of electric vehicles have dropped their prices, byd adopts a different approach in 2025. Tesla relaunched the price war with a subsidy to the insurance of Model 3 while Byd organized on February 10 2025, an event centered on on -board intelligence with updates for 21 models without modifying its pricing grids.
According to JP Morgan analysts, this is a new form of pricing marketing. Since 2020-2021, Byd and Tesla have launched promotional offers in January. The postponement to February, in 2025, is explained by the low stocks and the major orders of December 2024 via incentives for the recovery.
