Two years after a first announcement detailing their objectives, the two men once again spoke with the press to take stock of the progress of the first chapter of the DCU, called “Gods & Monsters” (“gods and monsters” in French) , and which begins in the movies this year with the film Superman by James Gunn.

The main announcement made by the Gunn/Safran duo concerns the rhythm to which DC Studios intend to offer their new productions. They plan to release two live-action films and an animated film per year, plus two live-action series and two series of animation per year broadcast on the Max streaming platform.

In short, seven productions DC Studios should be put before our retinas each year in the future, even if 2025 will be a little different because only season 2 of Peacemaker is on the program side and Superman is the only DC film planned in theaters this year.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

Clayface

This film between drama, horror and thriller is Written by Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House,, The fall of the Usher house) and should be directed by James Watkins (Speak no evil). The casting of the film is underway, and the shooting should start this summer for a cinema release scheduled for September 16, 2026.

This film is an example of a project that the Gunn/Safran duo did not intend to do two years ago. However, he reflects their approach concerning DC productions: no project obtains a green light as long as these two thinking heads are not satisfied by the scenario.

Clayface will have his own film.

In the case of Clayface (or Gueule d'Argile in French), it is the strength of the script of Mike Flanagan convinced them to make this feature film when he had not planned to devote a film to this character previously.

Peter Safran said: “Gueule of clay is not as known as penguin or joker but we think that its story is just as deeply evocative, exciting and even more terrifying.”

Dynamic Duo

This animated film devoted to Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, two Robin who fought alongside Batman, is in pre-production. Matthew Aldrich (Coconut,, Buzz lightning) Sign the scenario while the co -founders of the Swaybox studio, Arthur Mintz and Theresa Andersson, are attached to the realization. Development projects

The Batman Part II

Matt Reeves' film is not part of the DCU but falls under the DC Elseworlds. The director has not yet delivered a scenario finished to Gunn and Safran, but the two men have said that what they have read for the moment is “Incredibly encouraging.”

Note that this film with Robert Pattinson in the role of the Black Knight recently saw his rejected outing to September 29, 2027.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold

The film centered on the story of a Bruce Wayne discovering the existence of his son Damian is still in development. Based on the version of the black knight signed Grant Morrisson, this feature film should be directed by Andy Muschietti (The Flash) And if a screenwriter is indeed attached to the project, Gunn and Safran prefer not yet to reveal his name because that “Put too much pressure on the guy.”

No actor has yet been chosen to play Batman and Robert Pattinson will not take up the role for this DCU version of the character.

Deathstroke/Bane

Safran confirmed that Matthew Orton (Moon Knight) Works on a scenario for DC Studios which, according to Gunn, would be “Something a bit like” A story around Deathstroke and Bane characters. The duo did not give more details on the subject.

On the other hand, feature films Sgt. Rock,, Swamp Thing,, Teen titans And The Authority all remain at the development stage.

The first should be produced by Luca Guadagnino (Challengers), the second by James Mangold (A perfect stranger), while Teen titans is being written by Ana Nogueira (Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow) and that The Authority does not yet have a solid scenario and has been put in the background for the benefit of other projects.

On the series side, Gunn and Safran announced three new animation series, intended for a youth audience: My Adventures with Green Lantern,, DC Super Powers And Starfire.

An animation series acting as a result of the film Blue Beetle is also in the pipes, but has not yet received an official green light from Gunn and Safran.

Other series on the program:

Waller : This spin-off series of Suicide Squad and Peacemakercarried by Viola Davis, remains in development and has experienced a difficult course because of the Hollywood strikes of recent years.

Lantern : The series with Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre is filming and should arrive on the Max streaming platform in early 2026.

Booster Gold.

Booster Gold : After waiting for a showrunner which finally withdrew from the project, this comedy centered on Mike Carter, alias Booster Gold, goes ahead with a new person in charge.

Paradise Lost : The series centered on the entirely female island of Themyscira, a place of birth of Wonder Woman, is still in development and has no screenwriter attached to the project.

The Penguin – Season 2 :: Gunn and Safran explained that they do not yet know if the series with Colin Farrell will have a sequel because “There are a lot of moving parts, the most important being probably Colin himself,” According to Safran.
