One goal to photograph everything? Sigma reveals its impressive 16-300mm APS-C
To finish the SIGMA ads of CP+ 2025, the Japanese photo show takes place in Yokohama, after the futuristic case Sigma BF and the first professional telezoom Sigma 300-600mm F4 DG OS | Sportsthe manufacturer also launches an ultra-polly mega-zoom designed for APS-C hybrids and available in L-Mount, Sony E, Fujifilm X and Canon RF frames: Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary.
This is a zoom with a huge range of focal lengths ranging from the 16 mm Grand Angle to TV 300 mm. APS-C obliges, by applying a conversion coefficient of 1.5x, we therefore obtain a 24-450 mm equivalent! It is therefore the ultimate transstandard zoom, perfect for people who do not want to bother with several objectives while being able to photograph all types of subjects, ranging from the landscape to the photo of sport and animal, passing by the reporting and portrait.

Of course, with such a wide range of focal lengths, there are concessions to make, and especially on the openings. Here, we are talking about maximum variable openings F3.5-6.7, not very bright. It will therefore be necessary to rely on on-board optical stabilization (which compensates up to 6 it in the big angle and 4.5 in the back of the zoom) with the objective and/or the stabilization of the sensor to descend into the long exposure time or increase the ISO of the device. On the Bokeh effect side, they will be present on long focal lengths and it will be necessary as much as possible to use distribution districts fairly short to reduce the depth of field as much as possible and accentuate the effect.

The objective is based on an optical formula composed of 20 elements divided into 14 groups with a FLD glass, 4 SLD and 4 aspirial lenses. On the other hand, the zoom remains particularly compact and light with 615 grams on the scale and a folded length of about 12 cm: perfect for intensive use by hand raised or carried around the neck for long periods. Autofocus is provided by an HLA linear engine. The minimum focusing distance is 70 cm and the maximum magnification ratio of 0.5x for close photos. The objective resists projections of water and dust.
