Tesla now allows you to easily consult the health of the battery of its electric cars
The state of health of the battery of an electric car (State of Healthor SOH) is undoubtedly the most important data to know before a second -hand purchase. And for good reason, depending on the use that has been made of the vehicle, the degradation of the battery capacity can be more or less important, even to a mileage and at an equivalent age.
In the majority of manufacturers, it is necessary to go to the workshop to obtain a certificate attesting to the SOH of the car, in order to transmit it to a potential buyer, for example. Until then, this was particularly the case with Tesla, which only made the SOH to consult the brand's vehicle service mode. From now on, this feature will be accessible directly to drivers, with the just started deployment of the 2025.8.3 remote update.
The update note, shared by Not a tesla appspecifies: “You can now perform a battery health test to measure the capacity of your battery in relation to its initial value. The execution of this test can recalibrate the energy estimate, which can affect the displayed autonomy. Go to controls> Battery health.”
The battery state of health test is not detailed. To know precisely the SOH of an electric car, it is necessary to perform a complete load/discharge cycle, which requires long hours of waiting. At least it is the mechanism of this function within the service mode. It remains to be seen whether this operation has been revised with the deployment to the greatest number of this degradation test.
