Faced with a still shy adoption of the electric car in France, the state unveils a clear roadmap to boost recharging. The objective? Reach 7 million recharge points By 2030, including 400,000 accessible to the public. This plan, formalized in a ministerial press kit, also relies on pricing incentives, better transparency and finer integration into the national electrical network.

Objective 2030: terminals everywhere, for everyone … and at the right price?

The tone is set as soon as the official file is opened: “Strengthen the network of charging points is an essential lever to decarbonize our mobility.” At the end of April 2025, France already lists 2.5 million recharging points, including 168,000 accessible to the public, a figure tripled since 2022. The CAP fixed? 400,000 public terminals by 2030, including 50,000 in fast recharging (15 to 20 minutes).

But the infrastructure alone is not enough. The government also wants to make recharge more readable and more economical:

Our commitment is also to improve the user experience with real -time quality information and recharges at the best prices.

Eric Lombard

This will include the total opening of data (location, availability, price), an official simulator of the charging cost, and harmonized rules for “The structuring of the price paid is clearly transmitted to users”.

Piloted recharge: national priority

An ionity terminal.

Today, 65 % of individuals branch their electric car As soon as they return home, often in the evening, at the time of consumption peaks. The plan aims to reverse this logic: promote solar hours (11 am-5pm) and “super hollow” hours. Intelligent recharging management becomes the new expected new standard.

Recharge over off -peak hours or via more intelligent piloting must be the general principle of recharge.

Eric Lombard

A tax credit of € 500 is still in force for the installation of a home terminal, while the advent can cover up to € 600 for residents in the building.

Towards a bidirectional recharge and integrated into the network

An R5.

The government also wants to prepare for the energy future. THE Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G)technology for restoring electricity to the network from the vehicle battery, is part of the national plan:

This technology is already operational in France, and marketed since the start of the year.

Eric Lombard

By 2035, French electric vehicles could represent a storage capacity of 1,200 GWh, twelve times the current capacity of the STEP dams.

Supermarkets with condominiums: everyone put to use

The territorial network is densified: 63 % of supermarkets and 73 % of hypermarkets are already equipped in terminals. McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC also participate in rapid deployment. On the accommodation side, 18 social landlords will equip 135,000 places from 2025, with 150,000 more expected for 2026.

Finally, companies have had an obligation, since January 2025, to equip any parking with more than 20 spaces. Reinforced tax incentives also support the purchase of vehicles and the provision of charging for employees.
