For the OLED screen of the iPhone SE 4, Apple would turn to its long-time rival
Especially since Apple has ended its mini range and only offers smartphones in traditional or larger format. According to Hankooki Dailythe Cupertino company would turn to its historic rival for the OLED screen of the iPhone SE 4: Samsung Display.
Samsung would supply the OLED screens of the iPhone SE 4
Samsung would therefore continue its collaboration with Apple which began with the iPhone X. Planned for the first half of 2025the adoption of an OLED panel would mark an evolution for the iPhone SE range since the current generations are equipped with LCD screens.
However, production of the OLED screens for the iPhone SE 4 would be shared between several suppliers. BOE would have the largest share, and there is also talk of LG Display, another Korean manufacturer, in addition to Samsung Display.
But a shared production
LG Display has come a long way. The manufacturer had experienced difficulties with its P-OLED panels in terms of longevity and energy consumption. Fortunately, these issues have been resolved. BOE, a Chinese supplier, also produces quality OLED panels but cannot necessarily keep up with the production required by Apple in terms of volume.
Apple, by placing orders with BOE and LG Display, would seek to reduce its dependence on its historic rival Samsung in the telephony market. In recent years, the Californian company has turned to the first for its standard iPhones and to the second for the Pro models. The first OLED iPads used Tandem OLED panels supplied at the same time by LG Display and Samsung Display.
