The screenwriter and executive producer known for brilliantly rebooting the science fiction series Battlestar Galactica in the 2000s will therefore be at the helm of this epic against a backdrop of Nordic mythology for Prime Video.

New start for God of War

Moore thus takes over from Rafe Judkins as showrunner and executive producer of God of War. Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus recently left the project, even though they had been working on it for more than two years and had already completed several scripts.

Sony Picture Television and Amazon MGM Studios have in fact decided to change direction with the series and have therefore chosen to turn to Moore, who thus returns to collaborate with Sony TV for whom he has already developed and produced two successful series, Outlander And For All Mankind. These two shows are still being broadcast (respectively on Netflix and Apple TV+ in France), and will soon give birth to spin-off.

The series God of War is adapted from the 2018 PlayStation video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and follows Kratosthe god of war, as he exiled himself far from his bloody past in ancient Greece and lives in the realm of the Norse gods.

According to the Amazon description: “When his wife dies, he embarks on a dangerous mission with his son Atreus to spread his wife's ashes on the summit of the highest mountain. A journey that quickly turns out to be a quest that will test the bond between the father and son, and force Kratos to fight new gods and monsters.”

With a showrunner like Moore at the helm, who has no shortage of experience when it comes to adapting a major franchise to the small screen, we would hope that the series God of War is in good hands. All that remains is to see the project really take off and start betting on who could play Kratos…
