OnePlus is one of the most invested in the field of rapid software updates, and is now launching its beta of OxygenOS 15, available on the OnePlus 12 series and on theOpen. This new version of the brand's overlay, based on Android 15, will undoubtedly be at work on the OnePlus 13the brand's next flagship whose official release is scheduled for October 31 at 4 p.m. in China.
To appeal, OnePlus is counting on a series of new features including first of all a new way of managing the opening of applications from the home screen of its mobiles, which promises to significantly increase the fluidity of use – even if we must agree that it was already largely there. New cosmetic features are planned, such as a new quick settings panel and settings with simpler icons, while the Shelf page gains colorful widgets. We note the arrival of a document/image sharing system operating like QuickShare, but operating between OnePlus terminals and iPhones: to use it, you must download a dedicated application on the iPhone with which you wishes to share data, O+ Connect. Our tests were unfortunately not conclusive during our tests (in beta)…
However, most of the new features promised by OnePlus are elsewhere. We already know its AI Eraser services (the equivalent of magic eraser from Google) to remove unwanted elements from photographs, or AI Best face, for improving portraits. OnePlus intends to focus heavily on improving photographs using AI with new options, including AI Unblur, to remove blur from images, but also AI Reflection Eraser to remove unwanted reflections, or even AI Detail Boost to improve the sharpness of images when generously cropped.
Google in the equation
Google services are not left out. OnePlus announces integration with OxygenOS 15 of Surround for search (Circle to search), this search tool has become indispensable to those who have had the opportunity to try it, and available on a growing number of smartphones. The interface does not stop there and relies in particular on Gemini for writing assistance functions (AI Notes for summarizing texts, AI Reply for responses generated by AI, etc.), and uses the service of Google as your default personal assistant. Let's add that theft protection, with automatic smartphone locking if detected, is also included in OxygenOS 15, like Android 15 on the recently upgraded Pixel smartphones.
