The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra opens its pre-orders, the electric sedan promises to be super powerful
Xiaomi's sedan in Ultra version is the most powerful in the range whose standard vehicle we were able to test in France. And good news for amateurs since in addition to Xiaomi 15 and the overlay HyperOS 2.0 which will be revealed on October 29, the electric vehicle will be entitled to a presentation.
Pre-orders are open for the SU7 Ultra
After a presentation of a prototypeXiaomi is ready for the launch of the SU7 Ultra as the sedan opens its pre-orders on the manufacturer's official website. For the moment, no specifications or prices. But Lei Jun, head of the Chinese firm, explained earlier this year that it would be “a bit expensive”. In August 2024, the CEO finally said the vehicle would have a premium price, but not “excessively expensive”.
While its release is scheduled in the first quarter of 2025the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra could be sold for around $110,000 according to Goldman Sachs with sales forecasts of 4,000 units next year. Which would represent up to 5% of Xiaomi's turnover in the electric vehicle sector for its first full year in this very competitive sector.
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra will notably tackle the BYD U9 on the Nürburgring circuit. In 2025, the production car will attempt to beat the record for this circuit. If the production model retains the power of the prototype, compromises have been made to control costs. For example, ditching the carbon fiber body in favor of a similar chassis, three motors and battery pack. Features expected from base version like its automatic parking.
A novice mode to master the SU7 Ultra
To ensure that the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra remains accessible despite its power, the company is providing a novice mode which limits performance. You will have to pass various tests to unlock the full potential of the electric vehicle. Drivers will be able to adapt, in complete safety, to the power of the beast.
It remains to be hoped that the production model will retain the aesthetics of the prototype with its rear spoiler, its wide tires or its prominent front border. Xiaomi has great ambitions in the electric vehicle market by establishing itself as a major player in innovation.
