Launched a few weeks ago, the Google TV Streamer is the new multimedia box of the firm supposed to replace the venerable Google Chromecast. Among the new features there, a new menu, called Home Panel, is intended for those who would like to control the elements of their connected home from their screen. Good news: Home Panel is coming to other devices equipped with Google TV.
Home Panel arrives on several TVs and Chromecast
If you want to control cameras, thermostats and other lights from your sofa with your TV remote, this may soon be possible. Various media and users report that their devices running Google TV now offer the Home Panel.
TCL and Hisense brand televisions would be affected, as well as a Xiaomi multimedia box. This is also the case for Chromecasts with Google TV, which will not retire immediately. The deployment seems to be happening gradually, without any surprises, and it may be necessary to wait several weeks before being served. Nothing says either that all terminals running Google TV will be able to benefit from it.
For those who are more impatient, it is still possible to try to force update the Google TV Home application from the Play Store. Then, head to your device's quick settings menu, accessible from anywhere by holding down the home button on your remote control.
