This generative AI can create perfumes from text
Progress in generative artificial intelligence never ceases to amaze us. While most innovations are concentrated in the text, image and video generation sector, a Santiago startup has developed an intriguing new AI model. A food tech figure, the Chilean company NotCo has unveiled an AI called “The Generative Aroma Transformer” (GAT), which could be translated as: the generative AI model for aroma transformation. You read correctly, NotCo has developed an AI model capable of creating perfume and flavor formulas from a description in text format.
The Generative Aroma Transformer is capable of generating the chemical formulas associated with any perfume. For its customers, NotCo develops the capabilities of its AI model on its site: making a chocolate bar without cocoa, or revisiting the famous Mac&Cheese recipe in this or that way.
When a prompt is entered into the GAT, the model deduces the main fragrances as well as their olfactory positioning, such as the foreground note, as well as the background note. Once the aroma profile is defined, the AI is responsible for transforming it into a chemical formula that can be produced in the factory.
The Generative Aroma Transformer will soon be able to generate new flavors or create alternatives to certain perfumes for individuals allergic to certain molecules. This innovation represents a time saving as well as an increase in creativity for research and product development (R&D) teams. The expansion of generative AI in the food industry sector also demonstrates that this technology tends to become anchored in society, escaping the destiny of “ephemeral fashion” that some promised it.
