Good Omens: bad news for fans of the Prime Video series

Good Omens will indeed come back soon Prime Video to conclude its story of angels and demons, but this will not be done with a third season as previously announced by the Amazon streaming platform.

Ultimately, this conclusion will take the form of a single, 90-minute special episode, without creator Neil Gaiman.

Blame it on Gaiman

The third and final season of Good Omens should have been filming this year, but was stopped in the middle of pre-production when several accusations of sexual assault were made against Gaiman.

Two women in fact revealed on the microphone ofa Tortoise Media podcast having been victims of sexual assault by the perpetrator, with whom they were involved in consensual relationships. Since then, three other women have come forward with similar accusations.

The author, who denies the facts, proposed last September to withdraw from Good Omens so that the series can reach the end of its story. He, who held the positions of screenwriter, showrunner and executive producer, participated in the writing of this ending but will not be attached to its filming and his production company, Blank Corporation, will not be involved either.

According to our colleagues at Deadlinea new screenwriter should be responsible for finalizing the series.

Michael Sheen (the angel Aziraphale) and David Tennant (the demon Crowley) will therefore be back for a final episode which will be filmed in early 2025 in Scotland. As a reminder, the series is inspired by the 1990 novel of the same name co-written by Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

This change of direction regarding the end of Good Omens is the latest repercussion of the Gaiman situation, and does not bode well for other projects involving the author.

Indeed, at Disney, the adaptation of his book The Graveyard Book has also been suspended and we do not yet know if Netflix will reevaluate the future of the series Sandman taking into account the facts.

Season 2 will arrive on the red N streaming service in 2025, but there is no indication that it will continue beyond these new episodes. Especially since another series from this universe, Dead Boy Detectiveshas already been canceled.
