Be careful with your old Samsung smartphone, a security vulnerability is being actively exploited
Security breaches come and go. THE Samsung smartphones are also affected by a new vulnerability, recently discovered by Google's cyberthreat analysis group.
Identified by number CVE-2024-44068this security flaw takes advantage of a bug on Samsung's processors to gain full powers, and thus execute malicious code to recover an armada of personal data.
The Exynos 9820, 9825, 980, 990, 850 and W920 chips are specifically targeted. They are used in particular on the following Samsung models:
- Galaxy S10, 10+ and S10e
- Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra
- Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+
- Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra
- Galaxy Z Fold and Z Fold 5G
- Galaxy A21s, A51 5G and A71 5G
- Galaxy A12 and M12
- Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic
The good news in the story is that Samsung has offered a fix via the October 2024 security patch. Unfortunately, it will only be available on smartphones still entitled to software monitoring, and therefore updates. .

Please note, it is more than recommended to update your Galaxy smartphone now with the October 2024 security patch. Indeed, Google cybersecurity researchers, Xingyu Jin and Clement Lecigene, stressed that the flaw was actively exploited by hackers.
If your smartphone no longer receives security updates, it is strongly recommended to upgrade to a new model to keep its data safe.
