Metaphor ReFantazio PS5, ATLUS' first-ever full-scale fantasy RPG, was created by a team of renowned talents, including director Katsura Hashino, character designer Shigenori Soejima, and composer Shoji Meguro, famous for their work on the series Persona 3, 4 and 5.
The game was revealed to the public after several years of development, initially under the codename “Project Re Fantasy”, during the Microsoft Xbox Showcase conference in June 2023. This announcement was enthusiastically received by fans of the studio, who have been waiting for a more marked fantasy universe from Atlus for a long time.
The story of Metaphor ReFantazio plunges us into a kingdom plagued by anxiety and imminent chaos. Players will have to embark on a mysterious adventure, bond with their companions and overcome various obstacles to restore hope to this distressed world.

The announcement trailer skillfully mixes gameplay and animated sequences, giving a glimpse of a dynamic and visually stunning game. Game mechanics include a calendar system, a variety of classes and a synthesis system reminiscent of Persona. The combat system, for its part, takes place turn-based, in the tradition of the Shin Megami Tensei series.
