Coros Pace Pro: the sports watch switches to Amoled and gets new sensors
Specializing in sports connected watches, and particularly models dedicated to activities outdoorCoros adds a new reference to its Pace range. After the Pace 3, a Pace Pro joins its catalog, aiming to offer most of the functionalities useful to demanding athletes, and even a little more, for a nonetheless low price.
The watch differs from the Pace 3 by a first characteristic which is in line with the market trend: it has a 1.3 inch Amoled screen (416 x 416 pixels) displaying a maximum brightness of 1500 cd/m², characteristic that its predecessor lacked. This screen is integrated into a 46 x 46 x 14.5 mm case, rather imposing in fact, but remaining light (32.5 g without bracelet); The Pace Pro is also intended to be the lightest watch in its category. But its dimensions also mean that it is not intended for very small wrists. On the other hand, they allow it to hide a 345 mAh battery, with a capacity largely increased compared to that of the Pace 3, but also a wide range of sensors.
Long battery life and ECG sensors
To appeal, the Coros Pace Pro relies on a heart rate sensor equipped with five LEDs, which promises to deliver ever more reliable data. It includes a SpO2 sensor, but also a barometer and a GPS (dual frequency) whose precision the manufacturer praises. He is also satisfied with a notable novelty: the possibility of using offline maps on the watch, which its previous generations did not offer. We also note the arrival of an ECG function completing the health component of the device; On the other hand, there is no temperature sensor. These elements are dedicated to measuring physical activity, itself supported by training plans and synchronization with the main sports applications on the market, but also to that of the user's fitness: it is possible to benefit from recovery advice, a fitness score and of course, sleep quality monitoring.
Finally, we note that the chip integrated into the Pace Pro is announced to be twice as powerful as that of the Pace 3, and that the watch benefits from a triple the amount of RAM. An autonomy of around twenty days is announced without always-on display, and six days with it.
Competitors of watches such as theAmazfit T-Rex 3 made official at IFA 2024 and billed €299, but also the Samsung Watch Ultrathe Coros Pace Pro will be billed at €399. It will be available from October 31.
