“They will officially sail on the waters of the Garonne from November 9. With their colorful hulls, they will not go unnoticed from the docks! They are “the Batos”, descendants of the Bat3 and new river shuttles of the Metropolis.
New look for a new life
Designed in Les Sables d'Olonne by the Ocea group, four new shuttles (two in 2024, two in 2025) 20 meters long will be able to accommodate 70 passengers and 10 bicycles compared to 45 passengers and 6 bicycles previously for the Bat3. As a bonus, more seats and air conditioning or heating depending on the season!
Recycled aluminum machines also have a hybrid engine which allows them to be more environmentally friendly. In addition to this new name and this new design, the Batos will offer three new lines to connect the heart of the two banks with faster journeys than before:
- Le Bato 1: Lormont – City of Wine
- Every 30 minutes and a connection with tram B at Cité du Vin station.
- Le Bato 2: The Hangars – Stalingrad
- Every 25 mins
- 4 pontoons: the Darwin pontoon will be served every day (VS on weekends until then)
- Le Bato 3: Benauge – Port de Bègles
- Brand new connection upstream of the Garonne, a 22-minute crossing
- Every 60 mins
- The Rives d'Arcins shopping center is an 8-minute walk from the Port de Bègles pontoon
A launch with great fanfare
To celebrate the launch in grand style, stands will be deployed on the pontoons of the Bato 3 line (at Benauge and at the Port of Bègles) on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 November in order to distribute discovery offers: a round trip offered on the line valid for both days.
