At the time of writing, Univer Note is no longer available for download, Apple has gone on the offensive. Before being removed, the application allowed people to watch illegal content from Netflix, Disney+ And Prime Video with many advertisements.
An illegal streaming app on the App Store
As shown in the screenshot from our colleagues at Tech&Cofilms currently showing at the cinema were there as Terrify 3, Smile 2 Or Venom: The Last Dancewhich the editorial staff hated. The interface was also presented in French.
Its meteoric rise can be explained in particular by intense promotion on social networks; certain publications on X had hundreds of thousands of views before the suspension of the promotional account.
This is not the first time that such an application has fooled Apple. In October, the Micro Habits application, then renamed Flower Butler, used the same strategy before being deleted by Apple. Univer Note is a new iteration of this illegal concept, which this time managed to reach the top of the App Store rankings.
Is Apple's validation process as reliable as advertised? However, the Californian company claims to employ 500 experts responsible for evaluating applications before they are put online. Each moderator reviews 265 apps per week, on average.
Univer Note, first in version 1.0, would have potentially modified its content during an update to version 2.0, three weeks ago, to bypass the controls.
Apple has not yet responded to requests from BFMTV regarding this situation.
