Honda is taking advantage of EICMA 2024 to unveil its ambitions for electric 2-wheelers
Honda had made a timid foray into the world of electric 2 wheels in 2023, by offering the EM1 e (in the featured image), a small 50 cm3 equivalent electric scooter which brought nothing more than the others on the market , except for one detail. Indeed, it allowed Honda to implement a sustainable development strategy, with total control of the production chain, including the removable battery, calibrated to weigh the weight of a 1.5 pack of water. L.
Honda CUV e
The manufacturer returns in 2025 to expand its range with another model, 125 cm3 equivalent this time, with a still strange name: the CUV e: (yes the colon is part of the name). It carries 2 packs of this 1.3 kWh Honda battery. The total weight with batteries is 120 kg. The motor delivers 6 kW. Charging is given for 6 hours, with 75% of the battery life recoverable in 3 hours.
On the technology side, the CUV e: features a color screen, keyless start and LED lighting and a USB-C charging port. Honda announces 70 km of autonomy and a maximum speed of 83 km/h. The price has not yet been announced but it is already configurable on the manufacturer's website and you can request a trial.
Honda EV Urban
On the prototype side, things are more attractive. Starting with the Honda EV Urban. This is a maxi electric scooter concept which directly targets the BMW CE 04. Honda is banking on connectivity and AI to create a different driving experience. Either. The drawing already succeeds in creating an emotion and that is a good point.
Honda EV Fun
The other proposal already has a more understandable name. The EV FUN (probably for Have Fun) is a roadster-type motorcycle with a very industrial design. The battery will not be removable like Zero or Can-Am. There are rumors of 100 km of autonomy and compatibility with fast charging. Not enough to jump to the ceiling, this autonomy having already been achieved by a good number of models on the market. But we will see in due time, because Honda is aiming for 100% electric by 2040.
