Mass Effect: Amazon confirms a future series on Prime Video
If the release of the new game Mass Effect is not for immediately and no announcement concerned it yesterday, N7 Day, the license is however in the news today. According to the often well-informed Varietya series adaptation is officially in development by Amazon MGM Studios.
Will it arrive on the Prime Video streaming platform before the new opus developed by Bioware (Dragon Age: The Veilguard) and edited EA? In any case, the race seems to be on.
This is my new favorite from the Citadel
We know, Amazon loves video games. After the adaptations of Fallout And Yakuza or the anthology Secret LevelPrime Video is already working on variations of God of War and of tomb Raider.
The rumor of a series Mass Effect dates back to 2021 and, with the appeal of the streaming platform for the medium and space (purchase of The Expansedevelopment of the universe Warhammer 40,000…), the news will therefore not surprise many people. Especially since Amazon has the means to offer the new Foundation and come and compete with the next series Dune: Prophecy.
Daniel Casey (Fast and Furious 9) will act as screenwriter and executive producer on this project. In this last role he will be supported by Karim Zreik, Ari Arad and especially Michael Gamble, from Bioware. Unfortunately, this is all the concrete information to get your hands on for the moment on this future series Mass Effect.
Henry Cavill involved?
Scenario-wise, anything is possible. Starting from the first opus released in 2007 would obviously be logical, but it will be difficult not to disappoint fans of this space science fiction action RPG carried by the character of Commander Shepard. Hailed by critics, particularly for the second opus of the original trilogy, Mass Effect will offer a sequel in 2017, the unloved Mass Effect: Andromeda. A series that would accompany the upcoming new game is also a possibility.
On the casting side, the presence of a certain Henry Cavill (The Witcher) should be considered. The gamer actor, already busy with Amazon with the adaptation of the universe Warhammer 40,000 from Games Workshop, has never hidden its attraction for the license.
In 2021, he posted on Instagram a photo of himself in dressing rooms with a blurred sheet of paper to tease a new project. According to the images blurred by the community (to be taken with a grain of salt), a series was then planned Mass Effect recounting the first contact between humans and extraterrestrial races quickly mentioned in the first game. To be continued.
