Samsung intends to do much better than the Huawei Mate XT for its tri-folding smartphone
While Samsung has democratized folding smartphones, Huawei has now taken a head start. With the Mate XTthe company is indeed marketing the first model that can fold into three, and the result is already impressive.
However, the South Korean firm does not intend to let itself face its Chinese competitor. According to an article published on November 7 by ETNews, Samsung is focusing on the development of a tri-folding smartphone. No wonder, as Samsung's Display branch regularly shows its three-part folding screen concepts.
For the South Korean media, being the best on the market is essential. Indeed, Chinese competition has already grabbed significant market shares, in particular thanks to more innovations and tight prices. This puts less glitter in the eyes of each new generation of Galaxy Z Fold And Galaxy Z Flip.
We were thus entitled to a first effort recently with the Galaxy Z Fold SEbetter equipped than the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and approaching the proposals of Honor, from Google or even from OnePlus. There still remains a dark spot in the story: the exclusivity of this model to China and South Korea. For the Galaxy Z Flip range, an affordable version should arrive next year.
Faced with Huawei's trifold smartphone, Samsung must strike hard in order to establish itself with an exemplary level of finish that will convince consumers in the blink of an eye.
ETNews also details the situation well: “The demand for smartphone replacements has decreased and the number of competitors has increased. As a result, consumers around the world are spoiled for choice. The only way for Samsung's new smartphone to be chosen is to be the best”.
It remains to be seen how long it will take Samsung to market a folding product of this type. For ETNews, this should happen “shortly”thus suggesting in the best of all worlds a launch during the year 2025 (and why not during the Galaxy Unpacked summer conference ?).
