Aperty: portrait photo editing powered by AI
Aperty presents itself as a new professional retouching solution specializing in portrait photography. It is offered by the American company Skylum, already known for its application Luminar Neo. This solution naturally relies on artificial intelligence technologies, it offers unique functionalities and it was designed in collaboration with portrait photographer Julia Trotti. The promise: unrivaled precision and a natural final result.
Aperty relies on several technologies. The first allows you to create the facial mesh. The software is capable of processing up to 4000 points per face and detecting up to 30 parts of the face and body. This ensures a very high level of precision for each modification and taking into account the depth and dimensions of the image. Finally, the software has been “trained” to ensure the security of the photographers' original work in terms of privacy and intellectual property protection.
The software also allows you to smooth the skin, remove spots and imperfections, correct the color of the skin of the face and body, simulate different types of lighting, use color presets, generate masks and finally integrate makeup. .
Availability and price
Aperty comes in different forms: standalone applications on macOS or Windows, a Photoshop plug-in, a Lightroom Classic plug-in and even a photo extension for macOS. The solution is offered by subscription at a price of €26.95 per month without commitment or €269 per year. A 14-day trial period is offered to new users.
First opinion
Offering software dedicated solely to portrait retouching may seem pointless, but professional photographers who work in fashion, beauty, advertising, press or even events such as wedding photos know well that photo retouching Portraits are extremely important, delicate and time-consuming. Some professional retouchers are even specialized only in this discipline!
Aperty therefore offers a fun and quick solution to these photographers who can, for some, save significant post-production time and for others, greatly improve the quality of their portrait retouching and in particular the treatment of the skin of their subjects. It is interesting to note that another company, Anthropics, has also been offering software dedicated to portrait retouching for several years now with PortraitPro.
