BYD reveals the price of the Denza Z9: an accessible premium sedan

BYD was presented in Paris to unveil its Sealion 7 and the automaker is back at another auto show, that of Guangzhou. During this 2024 edition, the firm unveiled its Denza Z9, an electric vehicle available in two versions with official prices along the way.

The Z9 sedan is available in PHEV and BEV

The BYD Denza Z9 is available in plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and all-electric (BEV) versions starting at ¥334,800 ($46,320). The first has three PHEV versions (¥334,800, ¥364,800 and ¥414,800) and two BEV versions (¥354,800 and ¥384,800). The D-segment sedan had previously revealed its technical sheet with slightly different dimensions depending on the engine.

The PHEV version measures 5,235 mm long, compared to 5,180 mm for the BEV. The two share a width of 1,990 mm, a height of 1,500/1,518 mm and a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.

The Denza Z9 features BYD's e³ technology, a lighter version of e⁴ technology for ultra-luxury vehicles. It is based on the Xuanji architecture which offers three-motor propulsion with dual-motor independent steering on the rear wheels.

The BEV version has a 230 kW (430 Nm) front motor and two rear motors of 240 kW (360 Nm) each. Acceleration is 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. As for the PHEV version, it combines a 200 kW (315 Nm) front motor and two 220 kW (360 Nm) rear motors with a 152 kW (325 Nm) 2.0T thermal engine. The vehicle goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds.

For autonomy, the BYD Denza Z9 uses a 100 kWh blade battery for 630 km in the CLTC cycle. The PHEV version has a 38.5 kWh battery (201 km of electric range) for a total range of 1,101 km.

According to data compiled by CnEVPostDenza’s Z range is a success. After a winning opening of pre-ordersthe Z9GT vehicle was a hit with 3,089 deliveries in October. In total, the subsidiary delivered 10,781 models in the same month.
