Nvidia formalizes the GeForces RTX 50 Series, ready for AI
The GeForces finally benefit from the Blackwell architecture, introduced in AI data centers and acclaimed by ChatGPT, Meta and Google for their text and image generation tools.
Blackwell, for graphics cards, is a GPU with nearly 92 billion transistors, the most ever in a consumer GPU. It is coupled with a new video memory, GDDR7, offering twice the bandwidth of the previous generation. These innovations are accompanied by a significant increase in computing capacities thanks to new generations of Ray Tracing and Tensor units.
The GeForce RTX 5090 at the head of the line
For the launch of the 50 series, Nvidia is offering the GeForce RTX 5090, equipped with 21,760 CUDA units, 32 GB of GDDR7 memory on a 512-bit bus. All in a compact format with two slots, compared to three for the RTX 4090, allowing you to create high-performance PCs in small spaces. Its consumption is contained at 575 W.
The GeForce RTX 5080 offers approximately half the performance, with 10,752 CUDA units, 16 GB of GDDR7 on a 256-bit bus, and a consumption of 360 W.
The GeForce RTX 5070 Ti uses the memory configuration of the 5080, with 8,960 CUDA units and a consumption of 300 W.
Finally, the GeForce RTX 5070, the most affordable, has 6,144 CUDA units, 12 GB of video memory on a 192-bit bus, and a consumption of 250 W.
DLSS 4: multiplied images, increased performance
DLSS 4 innovates by generating up to three additional frames compared to traditional rendering, increasing performance eightfold thanks to other technology improvements. Ray tracing, scaling (DLSS) and antialiasing (DLAA) now benefit from the “transformers” architecture, used in generative AI models, for superior image quality and increased performance.
Reflex 2: latency reduced by 75%
To further reduce latency, Nvidia introduces Reflex 2. By combining Reflex Low Latency mode with Frame Warp technology, which updates the image based on the latest mouse inputs, latency decreases by 75%.
The GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 will be available from January 30, at €2,349 and €1,179 respectively. The RTX 5070 Ti and 5070 models will follow in February, priced at €884 and €649.
