Fallout: filming of season 2 postponed due to fires in Los Angeles

For several hours, the outskirts of Los Angeles have been hit by violent forest fires, accentuated by the winds. A dramatic situation which forces many events and film and series shoots to change their plans.

This is the case of season 2 of Falloutcurrently filming, which had to postpone the return of its teams to the sets.

A postponement “as a precaution”

Acclaimed by critics and the public, Fallout was one of the very nice series surprises of the year 2024. No wonder Amazon quickly renewed the program for a second season last April, just a few weeks after it began broadcast on the Prime Video streaming platform.

This season 2 had already been filming since November, and had even moved its production from New York to California to benefit from a tax exemption of 25 million dollars. A decision which today turns out to be less interesting, due to the fires affecting the region.

Indeed, a quarter-acre fire broke out north of Los Angeles during the day on Tuesday, while California was swept by intense winds. Fires are currently affecting the Los Angeles neighborhoods of Pacific Palisades (southwest), Pasadena (northeast) and Santa Clarita (north). And this last district is precisely the filming location for this second season of Fallout.

While production had been interrupted for the end-of-year holidays, it was scheduled to resume this Wednesday, January 8 in Santa Clarita. Events forced production companies Amazon MGM Studios and Kilter Films to push back “as a precaution” this return to the sets on Friday January 10, in the best case.

However, it is possible that the postponement of the resumption of filming will be extended depending on the evolution of the situation, because you should know that the Santa Clarita region is one of the windiest in Los Angeles. So to be continued.

As a reminder, Fallout is the adaptation of Bethesda's famous video game, and takes place two hundred years after an apocalyptic conflict ravaged the world.

Lucy, descendant of the survivors who took refuge in luxurious anti-atomic bunkers called Vaults, is then forced to put her pacifist ideals to the test when she must return to the surface to save her father and thus face the hostile world of Wasteland.

Season 2 of Fallout is still helmed by showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy (Westworld), and will notably see the return of actors Ella Purnell (Lucy), Aaron Motens (Maximus), Walton Goggins (The Ghoul). They will be joined in the casting by Macaulay Culkin (Mom, I missed the plane).

No release date has yet been announced, but a release in 2026 is more than likely. The Digitals will obviously keep you informed.
