In 2024, Huawei will largely focus on its audio devices and other connected watches in the European market. And if the majority of its smartphones have not crossed Chinese borders, the firm still intends to show that it has lost none of its splendor in the world of telephony and is launching its folding flagship on the French market . THE Mate X6, made official at the end of 2024 in Chinathus makes its debut in France.
The Fold format smartphone deals with the usual restrictions imposed by the brand. So don't look for 5G or Google services, the Mate X6 must do without them, like all Huawei terminals for more than five years. However, the device does not lack technical advantages. We first note that this “Fold” type smartphone offers two Oled screens, the first (inside), 7.93 inches (2440 x 2240 pixels) and the second, outside, 6. 45 inches (2440 x 1080 pixels). Both feature LTPO technology (1 to 120 Hz) and boast high brightness. They are integrated into a thin case (9.9 mm when closed, 4.6 mm when open) and weighing 239 grams: the Honor Magic V3 remains the record holder for lightness to this day. It is certified waterproof to a depth of 2 meters (IPx8).
Huawei is not very forthcoming when it comes to detailing the chip – obviously Kirin – which powers its smartphone, which we know however has 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. He is much more talkative about his UltraChroma-branded back photo unit, a technology which aims to reproduce colors as accurately as possible and which, during our tests, seemed actually convincing to us. We find a main sensor of 50 megapixels, accompanied by a wide-angle with variable aperture (f/1.4-4), a second module of 40 Mpx (ultra wide-angle f/2.2) and a third of 48 Mpx (f/3 telephoto lens), used for zoom and macro. All this is accompanied by a 5110 mAh battery compatible with 66 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging.
True to form, Huawei positions its folding smartphone at a price as high-end as its characteristics. So count on €1,999 (a 46mm Watch GT4 is offered with the smartphone if purchased on the brand's website) for this Mate X6 running Emotion UI 15.0, and not on the HarmonyOS Next operating systemcurrently reserved for the Chinese market.

Huawei offers them discreetly every year. The Nova, mid-range smartphones, are offering new iterations: the Nova 13 and Nova 13 Pro. The Pro version, classic with its 6.76-inch Full HD+ (Oled) screen, its mystery chip and its 5000 mAh battery (wired charging at 100 W), focuses everything on selfies. Huawei equips it with a 60 Mpx front sensor, just that, with ultra-wide-angle optics (17 mm equivalent, f/2.4); a second 8 Mpx module with a telephoto lens (52 mm, f/2.2) accompanies it. On the back, the Nova 13 Pro offers a main sensor of 50 Mpx (optical f/1.4-4), a second of 8 Mpx (ultra wide-angle optic f/2.2), and a third of 12 Mpx (f/2.4 telephoto lens, 69mm equivalent). A promising set in the field of image capture, again under Emotion UI (14.2), and billed at €699 in its 12/512 GB version.
The Nova 13 offers a very similar technical sheet. Its 6.7-inch Oled screen also displays Full HD+, and it has an identical battery. We simply note that it loses the 8 Mpx front module of the Pro model as well as its telephoto lens. Which explains its more contained launch price: count on €549 for its 12/256 GB version.
