After being talked about at CES 2025 for its articulated arm concept way Roborock Saros Z70 and its robot vacuum cleaner capable of climbing small steps — X50 Ultra —, the Dreame brand officially presented in France a farandole of products whose releases will punctuate the year of the Chinese manufacturer.

Among the most anticipated new products, two robot vacuum cleaners with very similar specifications and positioning: the X50 Ultra and the L50 Pro Ultra.

2 major differences and 200 € difference

It is difficult to differentiate these two new references as their characteristics are so common. However, we have distinguished two main ones:

  • Suction power : it is 19,500 Pa on the L50 Pro Ultra and subtly rises to 20,000 Pa on the X50 Ultra. In our opinion, this specification is mostly jargon marketing reserving ultimate efficiency for the most high-end model. There is little chance that this difference will be felt on a daily basis. Furthermore, we can never say it enough but the suction power is not enough to make a good robot vacuum cleaner. The architecture of the robot, its navigation, the configuration of its brush or even filtration are all ingredients that make a good robot.

  • EasyLeap vs. ProLeap : the nuance is subtle here again. With the EasyLeap system on board the L50 Pro Ultra, the robot is able to overcome door thresholds or obstacles that are a little high, up to 4cm. For its part, the X50 Ultra's ProLeap system allows it to climb small steps up to 6 cm in height.

No doubt there are other differences between the two models. Questions surrounding their on-board battery or the temperatures for washing and drying the skates have not yet been resolved. But once again we expect minimal deviations which should not impact the performance of these devices.

This is how our little game ends, the two models displaying common characteristics for the rest:

  • A retractable laser : the two models are both equipped with a retractable LiDAR which allows them to reduce their height by up to 8.9 cm to pass more easily under low furniture. To find your way without LiDAR, these two models can still count on the lasers and the camera with flash initially intended to detect obstacles in front.
  • An anti-tangle brush : both the X50 Pro Ultra and the L50 Pro Ultra rely on a double roller rotating in different directions to prevent hair from tangling.

  • Two pads for washing the floor : Dreame has not yet gone to the roller, which is quickly becoming more popular as we saw at CES. The manufacturer still relies on its two skates, one of which can move sideways to clean along the walls.
  • A complete docking station : like almost all robots on the market, these two models come with a docking station which automatically vacuums the robot's dust collector, washes and dries its mop with hot water and hot air and fills its water tank.

The two new Dreame references in 2025 are almost identical and yet they have a difference of €200. The X50 Ultra is launched at the recommended retail price of €1,499, compared to €1,299 for the L50 Pro Ultra. Enough to sow confusion for the consumer. Once they are tested in the lab, we will be better able to recommend the best model to you.
