Galaxy S25 Ultra: this high-end version would not arrive in Europe, a disappointment for some
On the cusp of the Unpacked event, where Samsung will officially unveil its new Galaxy S25 rangea rumor risks chilling some in Europe and the United States. According to a leaker renowned, the Galaxy S25 Ultra model with 16 GB of RAM, highly anticipated for its multitasking performance, could be reserved for certain Asian markets such as China, South Korea, India and Vietnam.
Galaxy S25s limited to 12 GB of RAM in Europe: a strategic gap with Asia?
Asian markets like China, South Korea and India would benefit from this high-end configuration. For what ? These regions show particularly strong demand for high-performance smartphones, particularly for uses linked to artificial intelligence, gaming, and intensive multitasking.
In comparison, Samsung seems to estimate that 12 GB of RAM is enough for Europeans and Americans. But is this really the case? The massive introduction of AI, particularly via tools like Gemini or augmented reality applications, risks making this limit obsolete faster than expected.
A double-edged decision
Samsung seems to want to avoid excess costs in markets where demand for extreme configurations is more limited. But this strategy could be seen as a competitive disadvantage. Other brands, such as Google with its Pixel 9 Proare already standardizing 16 GB of RAM in their high-end models, even internationally. OnePlus also offers its OnePlus 12 with up to 24 GB of RAM – although this is reserved for certain markets, such as China.
Expectations to put into perspective
Even if this rumor is disappointing, other aspects of the Galaxy S25 Ultra are worth highlighting: a 6.9-inch AMOLED panel at 2600 nits, a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and a promise of 7 years of software updates. Samsung could compensate for this decision by keeping the base model competitively priced, but the lack of 16GB of RAM might frustrate some.
Either way, Samsung will reveal its new flagships on January 22, 2025 at 7 p.m. French time. The S25 release date remains set for February 7, 2025.
