This professional trip, way speed datingwill see me meeting the successor of the one who had made me crack, six years ago already: the Vorwerk Thermomix TM6. I imagine as a preamble a version of the more contemporary, more slender and elegant robotter, without considering exchanging my good old kitchen companion for a younger version. The weight of years was not right for our alchemy and, anyway, I refuse to succumb to the sirens of consumer relationships.

As soon as I arrived in the German capital, Vorwerk shows me its protruding muscles: the thermomix TM6, they are 8 million units sold worldwide, generating 1.7 billion euros in turnover in 2024. Hegemony remains !

Design: beautiful and heavy

It is ultimately after a teasing unbearable that the portrait of the Thermomix TM7. With its black suit so chicit undoubtedly appeals. Nevertheless, I know the deception of a photo if it is filtered or retouched: I was not born from the last rain. “More powerful, quieter” And lots of tips, there is no shortage of praise to describe this TM7 supposed to relegate your elder to the rank of forgotten love.

I am offered to take it in hand to realize the potential of this young first – I had not been made more beautiful for a long time … A condition is nevertheless imposed on me: the photos and videos are strictly prohibited. Frustrated, I therefore give up the hope of leaving with a selfie with my Valentin of the day.

Enthroned on a work plan, the TM7 turns out to be faithful to its profile tease. That's already it! Always dressed in black, he is on his 31. He is actually thinner and less bulky than his predecessor, but everyone knows: black, it thinks! However, this cure will not have been right with the solid aspect which emerges from the robot-cook. Divided into two parts with its insulating shell, the bowl is supposed to be identical to that of TM5 and TM6. Its weight increased from 900 g to 1.7 kg with the shell, measurements not mentioned in the profile of this pretender to the feasts. The effort due to the uprising of the bowl is a little more intense, without being painful either. Difficult to say if this overweight will have an impact on duration, as the uses.

But it is above all on the automatic opening and closing system of the bowl that I await the thermomix TM7 at the turn. Difficult indeed to make more practical than the automatic arms which retract on the walls of the lid to lock it. So when I am told that this system is no longer, I take care of myself and continue to dream in happy days with my TM6. On this new version, the locking and unlocking system is miniaturized to the extreme, nestled in the cover itself. Because the devil hides in the details, Vorwerk went to the end of things by installing a small latch on the side of the bowl, which is used to attach or release the knives. The screen that is full of sight

I was not waiting or hoped for a larger screen in the thermomix. The reading comfort offered by the 6.3 inch diagonal of the TM6 is quite pleasant, even flawless. In addition, there is an almost unrivaled reactivity and display fluidity on this product category. So why then change a formula that works?

In its TM7, Vorwerk installed a 10 inch screen which occupies the entire width of the engine block and, I admit, it's very beautiful. Reading is impeccable, the text more airy, the larger images, therefore allowing to better see the recipes suggested by Cookidoo. Navigation necessarily differs and there is less question of scroll In the menus, which is very significant in cooking when you have dirty hands. The responsiveness of the screen and its fluidity remained during the tests that I was able to carry out, but it will be important to check in the lab Digital If he will be precise enough to make me forget the selection dial, an element oh so practical of the thermomix, which has been bowing on this new model.

Silence is golden

If there is one point on which the Thermomix TM6 had to improve, it is the noise emitted. The dosser cap, which had attenuated the sound issued by the TM6, is no longer. Today, Vorwerk is counting on a new, more powerful, but also quieter engine. And I confirm: the Thermomix TM7 is a silent when it works. Even in a mixture, the robot does not make noise, or very little, and it will only be noted for its Apollo physique. Another good news scheduled for next summer, I will finally be able to interact with him via the Cookidoo app and pilot it with the voice without its roar (in the simmer phase) to disturb my word.

Would I dare to say having a penchant for the thermomix TM7? It is still too early to say.
