The Tokina ATX-M 11-18mm F2.8 is not a real novelty since the objective has already existed in Sony E mount since 2022. The manufacturer therefore announces its variation here in a new Fujifilm X mount. This is a zoom Designed for hybrids (ATX-M range) and to cover an APS-C sensor format. By applying a 1.5x conversion coefficient, it is therefore equivalent to a 16.5 – 27 mm focal range. Resolutely high-angle oriented, this zoom will be particularly effective for, for example, landscape photography, street photo, architecture photography or even astrophotography. It will also be an interesting objective in video for the exercise of vlog hands on hand.

Regarding optical quality, it is based on a formula composed of 13 lenses divided into 11 groups, with 2 aspirial elements and 2 low dispersion glasses. The manufacturer announces an excellent optical resolution up to the edges of the images, a minimum vignetting and the removal of chromatic aberrations. The optical formula is also optimized to limit distortions, one plus for a large angle in order to obtain architectural images without deformations.

Availability and price

The new Zoom Grand-Angle Tokina Atx-M 11-18mm F2.8 x will be available in mid-March 2025. Its price in France is not yet formalized, but for information, the version in Sony E mount is offered at Price of 600 euros. It is a safe bet that the Fujifilm X frame version is offered at the same price.

First opinion

This new Grand-Angle Zoom F2.8 Constant in Fujifilm X mount is positioned itself in front of the Fujifilm XF8-16MMF2.8 R LM WR with a slightly less extensive focal range, but a significantly higher price of 1,700 euros. We can also evoke, for example, the SIGMA 10-18mm F2.8 DC DN model | Contemporary offered at 750 euros and the model Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 di III-A rxdalso displayed around 750 euros. The Tokina model should therefore, logically, be the most economical solution for users of Fujifilm APS-C hybrids in search of a high-angle zoom and with constant opening.
