After Free TV, Orange is now deploying its TV application

A few weeks ago, Free revealed its new completely free VOD offer. Hundreds of films and series are available to everyone. As a reminder, this is the new version of OQEE by Free: a free application open to everyone, even without a Freebox subscription.

It offers more than 170 live channels, 25,000 programs in replay and a VOD (Free Cinema) service supported by advertising. There is also a paid version, Free TV+, at around €0.99/month for the first year, which gives access to more than 300 channels, including those of TNT such as TF1 and M6.

The application is accessible from a browser, a smartphonea connected TV or a multimedia box.

Faced with this attractive proposition for users, other telecom services had to respond, like Orange which has just unveiled its service for Hisense televisions.

After Free, Orange TV

After Free TV, here is Orange TV ! The operator is now extending its compatibility to Hisense connected TVs, allowing its subscribers to access more than 200 live channels, replay, VOD and recording functions directly from their Smart TV.

With the arrival of its application on Hisense televisions, Orange now covers all the major TV brands sold in France, from Samsung to LG, Philips, Sony, TCL, Sharp and Hisense. Almost all Smart TVs can therefore accommodate Orange TV.

What happens to the decoder?

Like its competitors, Orange is banking on a clear strategy: making the connected TV a natural replacement for the decoder. This is not removed, but becomes optional, customers can either request it or use the Orange TV application directly on their television.

Orange TV works on smartphones, tablets and computers, on iOS, Android and in web version. On the SFR side, the service is progressing with its TV on webOS and is getting closer to Free and Orange, but it still lacks Apple TV to complete its presence on all ecosystems.
