Airfryer, steam cooking and sous-vide: this new LG oven wants to replace all your household appliances

Priced at €1,499, the LG InstaView WS9D694CM presents itself as a versatile cooking solution integrating several proprietary technologies from the Korean brand. Similar in every way to LG Better WS9D7673CBif not in terms of the exterior and the presence of a cooking probe, it should share its qualities and defects.

InstaView technology and thermal management

The specificity of this model lies in its InstaView system. By tapping twice on the front glass, the user activates the cavity lighting. This feature allows you to visually check the progress of cooking without having to open the door, which limits heat loss and maintains a stable temperature inside the muffle. It should be noted that the vast majority of ovens also have an interior lighting function which requires a simple press of a button to switch on. Certainly, LG’s InstaView system – which has its place on a refrigerator on the other hand – is a little more fun and spectacular, but the purpose remains the same.

ProBake cooking methods and technology

Technically, the device is based on the ProBake Convection system, designed to ensure even heat distribution and uniform cooking on the different levels. The oven offers multiple preparation methods to suit various culinary needs. It notably offers an AirFry function dedicated to hot air frying to reduce the use of fat, as well as steam and vacuum modes aimed at preserving the textures and nutritional qualities of foods. Be careful, the temperature stabilization may take a relatively long time, as was the case with the WS9D7673CB.

Connectivity and maintenance

The WS9D694CM integrates with the manufacturer’s home automation ecosystem via the LG ThinQ application. This allows remote control of the device, including setting timers, adjusting cooking parameters and real-time monitoring. Finally, for maintenance, LG highlights the EasyClean program. This quick 10 minute cycle relies on a hydrophilic enamel coating to make cleaning the cavity easy without the need for chemicals.

Cooking at your fingertips

Even if the touch screen is less elaborate than that of certain competitors, it remains very readable and offers instinctive handling, allowing you to start cooking or modify general parameters without needing to consult the manual. Manual programming of cooking is simplified by access to cooking modes (conventional and steam) via clear tiles and by the use of a very practical numeric keypad to adjust the temperature to the nearest degree, as well as the possibility of choosing the steam rate.

The oven also includes a cooking assistant, very complete and well organized (in which you don’t get lost), which automatically selects the appropriate mode, temperature and duration depending on the dish and its quantity.

The LG InstaView WS9D694CM is therefore likely to catch the eye of all cooks, from the most finicky chef to the kitchen novice. However, you will have to part with €1,499 to afford it, the price of versatility no doubt.
