IA
The place of artificial intelligence in society is more and more present, with without much surprise an increasing adoption in companies. Facing ALS ever more advanced AIconcern rises around a question: is my job threatened by this technology? Researchers from the University of Stanford have the start of an answer … and it is not reassuring for young workers 22-25 years old.
AI, already too intelligent, endangers the posts of young graduates
Will AI steal your job? Researchers Erik Brynjolfsson, Bharat Chandar and Ruyu Chen go in this direction in A recent studywith “First large -scale evidence corroborating the hypothesis”.
To arrive at this conclusion, they looked at the administrative data of ADP, leader in the provision of payroll services in the United States, and more specifically its employment files from the end of 2022 to July 2025.
In order to know the impact of AI on these positions, this team from the University of Stanford has developed a constistent method at “Follow millions of workers and classify their jobs according to their probability of being replaced by AI”reports Neowin.
The results show that office jobs, including developers and accountants for example, were most at risk. Maintenance and repair officers, as well as nursing staff, would be less exposed, probably because they are jobs requiring interaction with humans or the physical world, not with a simple computer.
The most alarming is still for young workers aged 22 to 25, researchers having concluded that these are the most exposed workers to be replaced by the AI.
A labor market in full transformation due to artificial intelligence
The study shows in passing that the labor market transformations do not help things for this age group, first with a drop in recruitments in office jobs of 20 % among 22-25 year olds. And even if some less exposed sectors continue to recruit, this does not compensate for the massive loss of automation positions – which can therefore be replaced by Artificial intelligence. Worse still, this trend persists whatever the economic conditions or the sector studied.
In short, young graduates are today on the front line in the face of the AI revolution, which could force some to review their career plan as soon as they leave their studies.
