There long -awaited Xbox portable console has just made its first public appearance … by accident. Images from the American certification organization FCC unveil two variations of a device signed Asus, under the banner of the “Kennan” project. This partnership between the Taiwanese manufacturer and Microsoft finally seems to take shape, with a hybrid console at the crossroads of Steam deck and ROG Ally.
Xbox Project Kennan: First leaked images of a portable console signed asus
The sea snake of a portable Xbox finally materializes … through the indiscreet lenses of the FCC, crossed with data from Indonesia and Korea. Spotted by Videocardzseveral photos show an ASUS scratched device – two models, to be precise – obviously intended to embody the famous Project Kennan, fruit of a collaboration between the manufacturer and Microsoft.
Two variations appear: a standard white version (the Rog Ally 2?), And a black variant, slightly different since it very discreetly sports a dedicated Xbox button, top left. The design immediately evokes that of the Rog Ally, with its analog sticks on both sides of the screen, a directional cross, the Abxy pimples, etc.

According to documents identified by 91mobiles And Videocardzthese two variants have very contrasting technical sheets. The high-end black model includes an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme (8 cores, 36W TDP) processor and no less than 64 GB of LPDDR5X-8533 memory. Opposite, the white version is based on an AMD AEIRT Plus (4 cores, 20W), successor to the van gogh which motorizes the steam deck.

The two machines sport a 7 inch screen at 120 Hz, but keep fairly wide borders. The overall design was revised with more marked handles (evoking a GameCube pad) and two USB-C ports on the upper edge. In profile, the device seems rather massive, even if it remains to be confirmed once in hand.

Are there any gray areas: is the screen of better quality? Is an Xbox OS system planned or is it a windows with Xbox layer? In the absence of immediate answers, experts believe that this black edition could simply offer direct access to the Xbox application, via the dedicated button.
There remains another big unknown: the price. In A context of general increase in prices at Xboxthe entry ticket for this “Project Kennan” could well be salty. What revive the debates on the viability of such a device in the face of already well installed competition?
