While gaming enthusiasts and music lovers have been speculating for several months about its release date and its technical sheet, the Audeze Maxwell 2 has until now never shown the slightest sign of life. It’s now done, because a visual of the sequel to the best gaming headset on the market has inadvertently appeared on the brand’s website. The product has since been withdrawn, but several users had time to capture an image of it, which was quickly shared on Reddit.
An optimized and more modern design
At first glance, one might believe an image of Audeze Maxwell first generation, the resemblance is so striking. However, a few details suggest an evolution of the design. The microphones integrated into the shells adopt wider grilles, the headband now equipped with ventilation seems more breathable, and a notched ring is inserted between the earpads and the shells, presumably for aesthetic reasons. We also note the abandonment of metal screws in favor of plastic clips.

Reduced weight, noise reduction and simultaneous USB/Bluetooth connection?
Unfortunately, no technical specifications were leaked along with the image. Combining wired use and a Bluetooth receiver for versatile use, the first Maxwell launched in 2022 had acquired a solid reputation thanks to its precise sound reproduction, carried by planar transducers, as well as compatibility with all consoles on the market (PS5, Xbox and PC). However, it was criticized for its notable weight and lack of noise reduction. We could therefore expect improvements in these two areas, without this having too much impact on the price, which was already rather high on the first generation.
In terms of comfort, beyond the more ventilated headband, the Maxwell 2 should remain in line with its predecessor. The shells, which appear slightly wider, could however offer a different feeling. We can also imagine that this second iteration will manage simultaneous connection via USB-C dongle and Bluetooth, a feature expected by many users.
Audeze has not yet reacted to this leak. However, the high definition of the visual suggests that the marketing of the Maxwell 2 is close. It would not be surprising if the headset was officially presented during CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
