Audi is preparing a sports electric car, between TT and R8

The Audi TT and R8 have not only had some commercial success, but also participated in establishing Audi’s notoriety against Mercedes and BMW. A concept this year and a series model in two years

According to Gernot Döllner, CEO of Audi, this new model will not be “Not a TT, nor an R8, but something between the two, (…) A very emotional sports car “he told the German media Bild. According to rumors, this car would share its technical base with that of the new generation of Porsche 718, also 100 % electric, which will arrive in 2026. This would allow Audi and the Volkswagen group to reduce the development costs of the model.

This strategy had notably given birth to the Audi e-tron GT, the technical cousin of the Porsche Taycan, which could indirectly be replaced by this new model. The sedan also played the role of an image car for the e-tron range, but now cohabits the same segment as the last A6 e-tronless sporty but more modern, which also offers an efficient S6 e-tron declination.
