Microsoft has just surprised its world by formalizing the integration of a new video generator by artificial intelligence directly in its Bing mobile application. Named by Bing Video Creator, this tool is all the more interesting since it is based on the Sora of Openaithe star technology of the moment for the generation of video. Let us recall in passing that the two companies are long -standing partners and that it is also GPT models that animate the other IA services of Microsoft. Obviously, the most striking aspect of this announcement lies in the free access to Sora in this way. Indeed, so far, the use of this text conversion model into video was the prerogative of only chatgpt plus subscribers, a paid service.

Microsoft promises a simple and intuitive use for its bing video creator. Users can access it in two ways within the BING mobile application (Android or iPhone): either via the menu located at the bottom right of the application, or by directly describing the desired clip in the Bing search bar. It is nevertheless imperative to be connected with a Microsoft account to use this functionality.

For the moment, the videos generated by this tool have a duration of five seconds and are produced in vertical format 9:16. Microsoft has already announced that the management of the 16: 9 horizontal format would be added later. Once created, these short video sequences are stored directly in the Bing application for a maximum duration of 90 days. During this period, users can either download them on their device or share them on other platforms.

Regarding geographic availability, the deployment of Bing Video Creator is under global scale, with the notable and noted exception of China and Russia. If the tool is currently confined to mobile applications, Microsoft has already indicated that the management for desktop computers as well as for its Assistant Copilot Search was planned and would arrive “soon”.

Slow free

As said above, one of the major attractions of Bing Video Creator is therefore its free accessibility. Nevertheless, this free is to qualify a little, because there are still two options for users.
The first, called “standard”, is the one that is completely free. But you should not be in a hurry, because the counterpart of this gratuitousness is a time of generation which can be very long. The second option, “Fast”, on the other hand, promises a much faster generation, Microsoft even promising a process with “in seconds”. Each user connected to a Microsoft account benefits from ten “Fast” generations offered. Once this quota is exhausted, two solutions arise: return to the “standard” generation speed or opt for the use of Microsoft Rewards points. Each additional rapid generation then costs 100 Microsoft Rewards points.

Microsoft Rewards

For those who are not familiar with this system, the Microsoft Rewards points constitute a kind of virtual currency that can be accumulated in various ways. They are mainly granted during research carried out via the Bing engine – for example, five points are credited for each search on PC, with a daily ceiling set at 150 points – or during purchases made on the Microsoft Store. This system therefore indirectly encourages a more frequent use of Microsoft ecosystem services.

Finally, it is also possible to launch up to three requests for video creation simultaneously, these then being placed in a queue. A notification is then sent to the user as soon as his clips are ready to be viewed.
