Blue Origin will soon launch a 100 % female rocket with… Katy Perry on board
This year 2025 is undoubtedly special. Many of the events in recent months have probably not been in the bingo predictions of a vast majority of people. The upcoming presence of singer Katy Perry in space was probably not … and yet.
An entirely female crew for Blue Origin
In a few days, the Blue Origin company will launch its New Shepard rocket on the occasion of the Mission NS-31, its 11th inhabited mission. This will propel a crew of six women for a short suborbital flight. It is the first time that such an event, 100 % female, has been held since the solo flight of the Soviet Valentina Tereshkova in 1963.
Astronauts will join the space at more than three times the speed of the sound. They will pass the Kármán line, the internationally recognized border of space 100 km above the earth, before unclogging to float as an improper and watching our planet. The crew will then return slowly under parachutes.
Besides the singer Katy Perry (who we want not to have to sing her song Firework), will be on board Aisha Bowe, a scientist from NASA rockets, producer Kerianne Flynn, Gayle King journalist, the author and journalist Lauren Sánchez (Jeff Bezos companion, incidentally), and finally the scientist Amanda Nguyễn.
Where and when to look at the take -off?
If everything goes well on the weather, mechanical and human side, takeoff will take place on Monday April 14 at 3.30 p.m. (Paris time) from the north of Van Horn, Texas.
Blue Origin, as well as Space.com, will offer a livestream a few minutes before shooting. This will be observed on the choice on the firm website Blueorigin.comhis social networks or his YouTube page.
