While the Mini-LED makes resistance to OLED, this latest technology could soon experience a new renaissance on the technical level. It is in any case on which Table LG, which has just revealed that it has reached a new crucial step around Pholed technology, and more particularly blue pholed.
The Pholed will be the future of screens
As already detailed in length in a previous articlePholed uses phosphorescent organic materials for pixels, against fluorescent for the classic OLED. The result is a much brighter and less energetic slab. However, if such issuers have been developed for red and green pixels, blue has so far been resisting.
Last August, LG – which offers Tandem OLED tiles on its new 2025 range combining the two types of transmitters – declared that it had succeeded in creating phosphorescent blue transmitters (hence the term Pholed Bleu). Today, the manufacturer says he is ready for the production of this large -scale technology to conquer the TV market.
The successful marketing of blue phosphorescence technology, which has been described as a final part of the “Dream Oled” puzzle, will become an innovative step towards the next generation of OLED.
A “little” revolution to start
On the other hand, the whole Pholed is not for immediately. For the moment, LG will offer slabs with two layers for blue, mixing fluorescent (more stable) and phosphorous (less energy -consuming). What already earn 15 % of energy consumption all the same.

In addition, this technology is not yet ready for large screens, such as monitors and TVs. At first, LG will show its technology on slabs designed for smartphones and tablets, at Sid Display Week 2025 in San Jose on May 11. LG is confident that with the needs of devices using in particular AI, VR or AR, democratization should be fast.
It remains to be seen how this advance will affect the other slabs manufacturers, starting with its main competitor Samsung, also working on this famous blue pholed. In any case, we hope that the gains will be important on the side of brightness and efficiency, LG having already offered huge gains this year with its G5.
