Box office: record start for final destination, confirmed failure for Marvel

Warner Bros, producer of the film, has just successfully resuscitated one of its franchises, and a seventh film is undoubtedly already in the pipes for the next few years. Speaking of Disney, it’s (already) the time to take stock of the last Marvel film, Thunderbolts *. The latest MCU opus falls in second place in the ranking and recorded $ 16.5 million for its third weekend (-48.9%). And you have to face the facts: despite the positive Lescritics and a good word of mouth, Thunderbolts * will not be a success.
The film painfully reaches 155 million on American soil, and $ 325 million worldwide. Even if he slowly catches his delay with Captain America: Brave New World (it is only 8 million from the film at the same stadium), Thunderbolts * will probably not catch up with him and should end his career just above the score Black Widow (379.7 million).

It is therefore the third failure of the studio in the last four opus of the MCU (only Deadpool & Wolverine saved the furniture) and the next The Fantastic 4 promises to be more crucial than ever. Will the public give Marvel a chance, or will the “tired superhero” be confirmed? Answer on July 23.
The American box office should activate significantly more next week, with the joint outings of Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Disney’s live action remake is expected around $ 120 million, while the last Tom Cruise should sign a start -up close to 80 million.
