Byd puts a large -scale ship in the water

The BYD XI'an is the sixth ship in the manufacturer's fleet and fifth car carrier bearing the name of a city that hosts one of its production bases. Xi'an is the capital of the Shaanxi province which houses one of the largest automotive production complexes in the company which recently unveiled its ultra-fast charge.

The first ship in the byd maritime fleet is exploring No. 1 with a capacity of 7,000 vehicles, entered service in January 2024, but chartered with a shipowner. The Hefei is the first ship whose firm owns and baptized according to the name of a city which houses a production site. Ditto, capacity of 7,000 vehicles with an inaugural trip last January with 5,000 electric vehicles throughout Europe.

In October 2024, Changzhou was launched with, again, a capacity of 7,000 vehicles. Its commissioning was launched in December 2024 and a cargo of 5,000 electric vehicles traveled to Europe.

The Shenzhen has a capacity of 9,200 vehicles, the largest automotive roof ship in the world. His dismantling of dry holds was finalized on January 15. The Changsha completes this fleet as a fifth ship and second carrier of an identical capacity of 9,200 vehicles. Last March, Byd announced its imminent launch.

Byd therefore continues its expansion strategy after having exceeded Tesla in terms of global sales of electric vehicles with batteries for two quarters in a row according to the latest data.

Faced with the slowdown in growth in the domestic market, Byd intensifies its global expansion efforts. Wang Chuanfu, CEO of the company, unveiled on March 25 at a meeting that the sales target for 2025 is 5.5 million units, including more than 800,000 worldwide.

This overall objective represents an increase of approximately 29 % compared to the 4,272,145 vehicles sold in 2024. As for sales abroad, the goal to be achieved represents a spectacular increase of 92 % in comparison with the 417,204 vehicles sold out of China last year.
