Byd: Sales record in May 2025, Tesla is completely overwhelmed by its formidable rival
It is definitely the ascent of Chinese manufacturers. Xiaomi also has recorded beautiful sales. For Byd, the increase is 0.63 % compared to last April with an increase of 15.27 % in comparison with the same period, in 2024. Individual vehicles represent a large part of these sales: 376,930 units.
Byd broke a sales record in May 2025
Byd’s strategy is therefore paying. The firm continues to enrich its range unlike Tesla whose sales fall. There are several subsidiaries and advanced technologies such as fast charge to recover 400 kilometers of autonomy in five minutes, just that.
In May, for the first time in months, Byd sold more battery electric vehicles than rechargeable hybrids with 204,369 units. The increase is therefore 42.5 % over one year and 4.41 % compared to last April.
For sales of rechargeable hybrids, it is the opposite with 172,561 units sold, a decline of 6.3 % over a year and 2.4 % compared to last April. Consumer appetite for fully electric mobility is growing.
The professional market also benefits from this growth: new energies commercial vehicles represent 5,546 units sold in May, a huge leap of 317.31 % over a year but a drop of 25.80 % compared to last April.
Global expansion continues since Byd achieves its sixth month record in a row for sales abroad with 89,047 units. Annual growth is 137.46 % and 12.60 % in one month.
The results of the first five months of 2025 confirms this dynamic. Byd sold 1,763,369 new energies, an increase of 38.70 % compared to last year, over the same period. Sales of private vehicles reach 1,735,643 units, an increase of 37 %. Ditto for the professional market with 27,726 units sold, phenomenal growth of 531.4 % over a year.
