Although losing momentum for several months, Tesla remains one of the major brands in terms of electric cars — still the leader in the United States. To attract consumers a little more, Elon Musk’s automobile company is reportedly preparing a major change by putting its operating system in the background. This would include support for CarPlay, while Android Auto would be left aside.

No Android Auto for Tesla, but CarPlay on the way

Mark Gurman and Edward Ludlow indeed shared in a paper published by Bloomberg that Tesla was currently developing support for CarPlay on its famous electric vehicles. Speaking of the arrival “one of the most requested features by customers”anonymous sources close to the project shared with the media that initial internal tests had already begun.

The opportunity to finally offer another interface than that of the operating system, with a version of iOS optimized for driving, appearing when the iPhone is connected to a car (wired or wireless).

“The addition of CarPlay would mark a dramatic turnaround for Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk, who have long ignored requests to implement this very popular feature”adds Bloomberg — evoking the differences of the billionaire with the practices of the Apple firm around the App Store or the recruitment of its engineers.

We thus learn that discussions on the deployment of CarPlay in the coming months have taken place, although the schedule for deploying this new feature on Teslas has not yet been confirmed… or even 100% certain.
