Citroën Ë-C3 Aircross: The affordable electric SUV offers an extended autonomy version

The new Citroën C3 Aircross shares its Low Cost Smart Car platform with the latest generation of C3. He also inherits his electrical declination in Ë-C3 Aircross version. However, the 44 kWh battery of total Ë-C3 capacity offers only 300 km of WLTP autonomy at the ARICROSS.

Raising capacity and declining consumption
While the Ë-C3 should soon offer a smaller battery to lower its prices, the Ë-C3 Aircross wins a larger capacity battery. Thus, it is now available in an extended autonomy version which announces up to 400 km of radius of action. This version is equipped with a 54 kWh of total capacity battery.
But his gain in autonomy is not only explained by this capacity on the rise. Indeed, its consumption is also down just over 10 % (between 16.1 and 16.4 kWh/100 km according to the WLTP protocol, which takes into account the losses of the on -board charger). Yet equipped with the same 83 kW engine (113 hp), this extended autonomy version is certainly lighter than the basic model, which suggests that it abandons LFP chemistry for NMC chemistry, more expensive but with the best energy density.
We contacted Citroën to find out more, as well as to confirm the eligibility of this new version with the CEE bonus, even social leasing.
On the recharge side, this 54 kWh battery version requires an additional 2 min to go from 20 to 80 % in direct current, with 28 min announced.
The Citroën Ë-C3 Aircross with extended autonomy requires the intermediate finish more or the high-end Max. This version is sold for € 2000 more than the classic identical finishing model, which brings its entry ticket to € 31,500 in finish more.
The Opel Frontera Electric, its technical cousin, does not yet offer this new configuration, but it is a safe bet that it is about to be launched.
