Class of the future: Google deploys its gemini in all schools, even in France

Google took advantage of the ISTE 2025 conference to seriously strengthen its Gemini for Education offer. In its new version, it is built on the best current model of the web giant, namely Gemini 2.5 Pro.
Google also changes notebooklm, an assistant to take automated notes which is also one of the fastest growth educational applications of the giant. A Video Overview function will be integrated soon, and will be able to automatically convert a teacher’s supports to short educational videos.

An emphasis on security and confidentiality
During its presentation, Google particularly insisted on the protection of students, which appears at the heart of the offer. The web giant has deployed a strict content moderation protocol, based on partnerships with Connectsafely and Family Online Safety Institute. Google claims that the results produced by Gemini are systematically verified via a double Google search to limit factual errors. We are also promised that user data is neither reused for training models nor examined manually.
A native integration into Google Classroom
The icing on the cake, Gemini comes to integrate directly into all existing Google Classroom editions, without any additional cost. The new formula provides students and teachers with more than thirty tools, such as the creation of interactive study guides, the generation of quiz, differentiated writing of content and audio summaries of Podcast. For teachers, a new Analytics tab allows you to follow the students’ progress in real time, in order to identify those who encounter difficulties, to possibly adjust the training courses.

Students under the age of 18 invited to the party
We also note that for the first time, Gemini and Notebooklm are available for users under the age of 18 within Workspace for Education. Google justifies this opening through the development of Learnlm models, which are presented as aid for students for the formulation of ideas, training in knowledge and the creation of practical exercises, while adapting the level of language to each age group.
Personalization and sharing of “gems”
Teachers can for their part create gems based on their program, then share them with their colleagues or even the whole establishment. These personalized agents are designed to meet the precise needs of a course, whether it is individual support or deepening of particular concepts. Establishment administrators, for their part, have an interface to manage and deploy these gems on a large scale.
Lots of other services
The offer is not limited to software. Google Vids, generative video creation tool, also joins Gemini for Education. An assistant to the generation of forms completes the possibilities of personalization. Class Tools allows you to control live chromebooks (content diffusion, locking certain features). Finally, a universal application of “Document Camera” under Chrome OS and an extended range of Chromebooks (Plus and OPS) will soon be available to strengthen the equipment of classrooms.
A step towards the classroom AI
Google has accustomed us to phase deployments for its new tools, with the United States served first. But his Gemini for Education is immediately available in all editions of Google Workspace for Education, including in France therefore. Even if we have managed to find any statistics, it still seems that his solution is much more popular in the country of Uncle Sam than in our latitudes.
In any case, Google advances its pawns in the education sector, with an increasingly complete offer, and which seems to position the web giant as one of the locomotives in the IA classroom of tomorrow.
