When it comes to wireless connections, the first reflex is logically to think of WiFi and Bluetooth. A significantly increased scope for the NFC

The NFC Release 15 will have a quadrupled range compared to the current one. Do not panic, this should not facilitate the task of thieves who follows the NFC to extract data, since you will go from 0.5 cm to 2 cm.

This should more easily pay in contact with faster and reliable interactions. But that’s not all, since other uses should be easier, such as wireless loading, the use of trackers or connected objects such as keys or kitchen elements. This should concern all tech players, because companies like Apple, Google, Huawei, Sony and others are represented at the NFC Forum council.

Soon the first products with NFC 15

In addition, this new NFC has a durability objective, since it will support the NFC Digital Product Passport standard. This DPP allows a tag NFC in a product to store and transmit data. What improve reliability, interoperability and compatibility on all NFC products used by the DPP through the lifespan of a product.

For a date of arrival in our devices, we will however have to wait. The first certifications with the NFC 15 will only be issued this fall.
