Coq Block: Pornhub, YouPorn and Redtube closed their doors in France from June 4, 2025

This Thursday, June 4, three of the most consulted adult sites in the world will voluntarily cut access to France. Not because of an official ban, but by refusal to submit new age verification rules. This militant gesture of the Aylo group directly targets the SREN law, whose application enters a new phase.

The SREN law (securing and regulating digital space) now requires all pornographic sites accessible in France, including those based in the European Union, a certified age verification. This verification cannot be limited to a simple check box. It must be based on a double anonymity system: neither the site nor the provider should know both who you are and what you consult.

If this obligation had already applied itself since April 11, 2025 to the platforms outside the EU, it is indeed this June 4 that it becomes effective for European sites. Aylo, who controls Pornhub, Redtube and Youporn, refuses to comply with it and therefore cuts access to the French public.

A regulatory showdown

Arch, the French authority for regulating online content, did not even have to rage this time. The law provides that it can block or dereferenize non -compliant sites without even going through a judge. But Aylo takes the lead, preferring to withdraw from the French market rather than accepting the legal framework.

So then?

Aylo’s departure is a thunderclap, but he may not remain isolated. Other pornographic platforms will also have to comply in the hours or days. France, a pioneer on this front, experiences a delicate balance between protection of minors and respect for digital privacy.
