It’s the solar flare of the year that has just taken place! The night was pink and green in the skies, in France and in other places around the world. The geomagnetic episode, at the time of writing, is at its maximum stage, known as G4.

The hashtag #Aurora shakes up X and we find superb shots of the sky dating between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Currently, the auroral oval is shifting a little towards the west.

The videos from across the Atlantic, obviously more numerous, are crazy:

Some open their door and are stunned like here:

The Sun has had two flares, including the largest in 2025

While a few days ago our star had already released its anger in the form of a class

As often happens when two eruptions follow each other just a few hours apart, the first clears the way and the second picks up speed and hits the Earth with all its vigor, providing sumptuous auroral episodes. And as the earth’s magnetic field “decided” to be favorably oriented, the night was green and pink across the globe, including in France.

Solar cycle 25 is definitely very powerful, will there be other Northern Lights?

The KP index is 8 out of 9, a boon for the Northern Lights!

The Sun has eleven-year cycles during which its activity peaks and then descends. We are just in the descending phase of the cycle which is rather exceptional compared to the previous ones. There will be more major solar flares and more bursts of the Northern Lights, that’s for sure. But the question that needs to be asked today is: can we expect more aurora borealis tonight?

In fact, it’s quite difficult to say, but we can imagine that this is the case. Everything will depend on how the two eruptions moved, or even telescoped in space before impacting our magnetic field. The chances exist.
